Norwegian Success for Hadar Lighting

09.09.10

Hadar Lighting's innovative LED floodlight for Zone 1 Hazardous Areas, the HDL106, made its Scandinavian debut at this year's hugely successful Offshore Northern Seas (ONS 2010) exhibition and conference.

ONS 2010 was held in Stavanger from August 24 - 27, attracting almost 50,000 visitors to the 1,200 international exhibitors. Hadar products, including the newly released HDL 106 were exhibited by their Norwegian distributor, Teksal Hineco AS, the Stavanger-based electrical engineering specialists. The company also demonstrated the lights at a large social gathering for 300 customers outside their own premises.

Teksal Hineco Department Manager, EX Products, Sveinung Andersen, commented, "For ourselves, it was the best and most successful ONS we have attended so far - we had two HDL 106's mounted in the stand ceiling and they attracted an enormous amount of attention from not only oil companies such as Statoil, ConocoPhillips and BP, but also engineering contractors such as Aker Solutions, Aibel AS and Reinertsen AS."

"On the Tuesday night, we also used two of the units to illuminate the area outside our own factory for a big social function for our customers which was a great success!"

Hadar Lighting’s Engineering Director, Barry Thompson, commented, “Sales of the LED floodlights are already surpassing our original estimates, especially within the offshore sector. Whilst the certification process for Zone 1 and 2 applications was exhaustive, it's certainly been worth the wait with many companies taking units on trial until we had the necessary certification. We now have orders from all over the world which we are now fulfilling.”

“The lights produce purer light, weigh less, last far longer than traditional sodium or halogen equivalents, have no warm up period and have an expected lifespan in excess of 10 years without any maintenance in line with industry’s preferred ‘fit and forget’ requirements. In addition, power consumption of the new floodlights is approximately 40% of traditional equivalent, with various beam dispersal patterns of between 10 degrees and 120 degrees meaning the light goes where it’s designed to go rather than being wasted."

Hadar Lighting is a specialist manufacturer of hazardous area products for the oil, gas, petro-chemical, pharmaceutical and marine industries worldwide.
